Andreas Argyrou was born in Cyprus in 1957. He began his musical studies at the National Conservatory of Athens in 1978 where he studied piano and higher theoretical themes : harmony, counterpoint, fugue and musical composition. In addition, he attended master classes in composition at the "Faculty of Music" in Belgrade.
His music include piecesfor orchestra, small and large musical groups, and for solo instruments./ Works of his have been performed both in Greece and abroad and are played on national radio stations, having also received distinction in various contests.
In 1989, he won a prize in a pan Hellenic composition organized by the Modern Conservatory of Athens for his Piano Trio. In 1990, he had been praised in the first pan Hellenic composition organized by the Greek Composers' Association in cooperation with the Greek Radio Graft, for the music piece Variatioon for small orchestra and in 1992 for the same piece he has been selected as one of the six finalists, in the 1992ALEA III International CompositionCompetition.
His works are published by "Papagrigoriou - Nakas" music Edition.
Since 1983, Mr. Argyrou has been a teacher at the National Conservatory of Athens.
