Jani Papadhimitri is a renowned musician with a wide range of contributions to the classical and contemporary music field. Throughout his rich career, he’s performed hundreds of well-known and virtuoso works in stages and on screens across the globe; he’s been a profoundly dedicated, supporting and highly inspiring professor of violin, viola and piano; an innovative and deeply creative composer of pedagogic works – many recognized for their heritage and cultural value; and he continues to be celebrated for his significant presence in the community and the world of music.
He received his diploma from the University of Arts in Tirana, Albania, and worked at the Theatre of Opera and Ballet initially as Orchestra Concertmaster, as well as Solo Violin Performer, and eventually Art Director. He was also Violin Professor at the University of Arts.
After 1990, he became Concertmaster of the Symphonic Orchestra of Piraeus, Greece, and later a member of the Athens’ Orchestra of the Opera, member of the Contemporary Music Ensemble of Athens – where he was active as both a soloist violinist and a composer.
After moving to Canada in 2001, he worked for many years in the “Sinfonia Toronto Soloists Ensemble”as well as performed regularly as a member of the “Academic Concerts” Series in Toronto.
Together with his daughters – Sofia, pianist, and Livia, violinist – Jani created Trio FAMMUS (FAMily MUSic), which he has led through an active performance journey across Greece, Albania, Canada, and the U.S.A, interpreting a rich repertoire of classical and modern works, and many original compositions of Jani himself.
As a composer, Jani created the ballet “The Eagles”; Suites for Orchestra; Symphonic Dances; various works for chamber music, as well as a large volume of pieces and pedagogic studies, including the “12 Caprices for Violin Solo”, accredited as an academic work of university level. His compositions have been performed with resounding audience appreciation in Tirana, Paris, London, Moscow, Athens, Toronto, etc.
