KOSTAS MILONAS Valse No 2 (Ballet Course) [For Symphonic Orchestra] EPN 1163 ISMN 979-0-69151-666-9 Pages: 24 Size: 210 x 297 mm Valse No 2 was first written for piano and was recorded together with eight pieces, also for piano, for the cd βMEMORIESβ. Shortly after, at the cd βAUTUMN DAYSβ, featuring guitar pieces, I included Valse No 2 transcribed for two guitars. In my recent cd βOUR OLD HOUSEβ, released in the USA, consisting of pieces for solo, two and three guitars, I included this particular piece once more, transcribed for three guitars. In this last revision, I think that I gave the piece a more comprehensive form, by enriching it melodically and harmonically. Soon I realized that this Valse had great appeal to many musicians, who asked me to transcribe it for instruments that they grouped into several duos and trios. This way, several combinations arose for two and three instruments based on the piano and they were performed quite often, in Greece as well as abroad. With the current version for full orchestra I hope that it has its final form. By listening to it βeven through Sibelius softwareβ I have the certainty that it can become an area of study for young musicians who have the ambition to become orchestrators, and this is a claim that I make with no sign of conceit. I wish it is soon performed by an orchestra so that my allegation is verified. The last thing I would like to say is that all these years my sole worry and thought, is focused on the effort I put in order to build with my music a bridge between the βpopulismβ and the βelitismβ that are actually the two sides of the same coin. The form and the rhythm of the Valse that is so loved on a universal scale, agrees to this.
