After the twelve “Recital” for Solo guitar that has been released for many years by “Panas Music”, we decided together with the publishers Kostas Papagrigoriou - Charilao Naka and our partner Dimitrios Doulia to create a new series of books for two guitars with the general Title “Twelve”.
The first two books from “The Twelve” contain only my own compositions and coverings. Most of these works have Greek (Oriental) roots and many are based on melodies of top Greek composers, such as Taxim, Hamam, Cloudy Sunday. Floris in the field Mikis Theodorakis Manos Hadjidakis Song for Manos) as well as strangers such as George Gershwin (Summertime) and Villa Lobos (Rock Study No 2).
The first works I wrote about the two guitars are the two major suites on the music of Manos Hadjidakis (A song for Manos) and the Beatles (Let It Beatles), which were released on three CDs originally from Lyra and later by Lyra The “Legend”. They are to be released in notes, included in our new series “Twelve” by “Panas Music”.
My trip with the two guitars began in 1989, a time when we created with Maro Razi the Guitar Duel. It was the time when my show, “Walk it with a guitar”, was finished in the 2nd Radio program, with a subtitle “Nothing better than a guitar except maybe two”.
I always believed that the two guitars were better than one, not just for psychological reasons (that’s better to play music with someone else) but also for musicians because the charm of the guitar is enriched with three main advantages. The intensity, extent and plurality of her is growing.
